"Real" fairy powder.

“Real” fairy powder.

Things are crazy busy from mid-September right through October. I’m trying to get caught up… I got to meet with E’s teachers, which seemed helpful. She gets official grade reports fairly often, which is good – and the grades are mostly good. I’m not convinced she’s actually learning anything, though. I hate to admit it, but right now, I kind of think it doesn’t matter if she’s learning, just as long as she gets good grades. (!)

On the other hand, I can’t help it – we did a massive timeline project, we’ve been doing Greek myths as bedtime stories, and she had a little friend over for an afternoon of cuneiform, hieroglyphics, and Greek.

Plus! I got to be a chaperone on the 6th grade trip to the Renaissance Faire.

Lord help us, 6 little girls, first time faire-goers. They spent the whole day in the pursuit of candy apples, scared themselves silly in the “Dungeon” (Scenes of Medieval Torture!), drank soda instead of water and got all dehydrated, refused to go to any of the shows – I had to force them to attend the joust – and spent all their pocket money on Fairy Powder. (Some of it was just glitter, but some of it was “real” fairy powder…  Don’t ask.) We only lost one kid, and she eventually found her way back to the bus with another group, so that was ok. All in all, a successful event.
