Rivers and Seas

My wonderful Aunt Janet and my beloved littlest cousin Geneva came for a visit. Janet rarely gets vacation time, so it was fantastic to have them here. Janet stayed with my folks, and they went to all the museums and so on. Geneva’s in college, and just turned 21, and we had all kinds of catching up to do, so she stayed with me. We went swimming in the Eno River, which was lovely, and ate at the local taquerias (thank goodness Geneva speaks Spanish), and went out Friday night to the newest dance clubs in Raleigh. Quite an evening that was. My goodness. I have to say it was fun to watch my gorgeous baby cousin turning heads. :)

And then we all had a day at the seaside! My mom and my aunt and my cousin and me: all bobbing up and down in the ocean; warm waves; hot sand; tiny shells; picnic sandwiches. When the wind picked up we took our sandwiches behind a dune. Many summers at the Cape have made us all experts at managing sand and sandwiches! In fact, it felt like we’d been doing this together forever… even though my memories of family beach trips were from before Geneva was born, and when I see my extended family now, it’s usually winter! But somehow, everything just felt… exactly… right.
