and it&#8217;s a wonderful place to raise a family.<\/h5>\n<p>Durham is a just-right-sized city, with a lively downtown, lots of new businesses, and lots of choices for schools.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Music festivals run all summer long.\u00c2\u00a0 Grownups and kids all love to go downtown for home-made ice cream at the Parlor, or to visit the Scrap Exchange, a wonderful up-cycling warehouse of crafting supplies.\u00c2\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/lifeandscience.org\/\">local children&#8217;s museum<\/a> is a huge favorite!\u00c2\u00a0 Hard to beat that classic dinosaurs + trains combination, and there&#8217;s also the butterfly pavilion, the mist garden, the room full of building blocks, and the zoo animals. <a href=\" http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/?p=3671 \"><em>The last time Paul and I were there, we ended up running into pretty much every family we know!<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Eno_H.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3662\" alt=\"Eno Festival\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Eno_H-300x190.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Eno_H-300x190.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Eno_H.jpg 420w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/LS.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3666\" alt=\"albertosaurus.JPG\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/LS-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/LS-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/LS.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/scrap1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3667\" alt=\"scrap1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/scrap1-300x198.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/scrap1-300x198.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/scrap1.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Duke&#8217;s botanical gardens are another favorite family spot.\u00c2\u00a0 Students studying on the lawn, kids and dogs chasing frisbees, older folks resting on the benches, and everyone enjoying the sunshine and flowers.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m really lucky to work right on campus &#8211;
