Certainly it&#8217;s taken an crack-team of angels to get lil&#8217; e through these past few years.\u00c2\u00a0 Lately, since things are looking up for her, I&#8217;ve been praying that her angels will lend a hand to a little friend of hers.\u00c2\u00a0 This kid was way too young to be dealing with the kind of mess she had gotten tangled in, and it looked like she was short of reliable, understanding adults.\u00c2\u00a0 Myndi and I had been plotting for weeks to get this kid some help, but we simply couldn&#8217;t get our hands on her.\u00c2\u00a0 She was always grounded.\u00c2\u00a0 Finally &#8211; finally! &#8211; she was able to join her friends for an overnight, the angels got their act together, and without any help from any adults&#8230; the whole thing sorted itself out.<\/p>\n<p>When they all came for a visit Christmas-eve afternoon, I was so happy I kept having to go into the kitchen to cry.\u00c2\u00a0 Instead of sitting a little girl down for a very scary grownup talk, I handed her a cookie and a bucket of sidewalk chalk, and all the kids in the neighborhood ended up out on the street, drawing Christmas trees and writing love notes to the neighbors.\u00c2\u00a0 Should someone still have that talk with her?\u00c2\u00a0 Yes (and certainly E and A will both be getting Useful Books for Young Ladies early in the new year), but it doesn&#8217;t have to be on Christmas Eve.\u00c2\u00a0 This year, they can still be kids, and I officially believe in Christmas Miracles.\u00c2\u00a0 I will take my chances on my own for a week or two; my guardian angels may take a well-deserved holiday.<\/p>\n<p>I imagine them at some sunny seaside, sitting in beach chairs, wingtips tracing idle circles in the sand, clinking tall glasses of frothy something or other and watching the sky turning pink and gold.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Myndi and I often speculate that perhaps our own lives seem to halt, stall, and&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[20],"class_list":["post-2698","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-holiday"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2698"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=2698"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2698\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2699,"href":"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2698\/revisions\/2699"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=2698"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=2698"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.rebeccagibson.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=2698"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
