I also haven&#8217;t been writing my &#8220;autobiography&#8221; for the adoption agency, which is what I&#8217;m really supposed to be doing. I started, but I got stuck on one question and just chickened out. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s like I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve had a little \u00e2\u20ac\u0153imaginary friend\u00e2\u20ac\u009d for the last three years \u00e2\u20ac\u201c when I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m driving alone, there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s an invisible kid in the back seat. Sometimes it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a boy and sometimes it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a girl; sometimes a toddler, sometimes a teenager. He hides behind trees on days I walk to work; she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s just ducked into the cereal isle in the grocery store. I get jealous every morning when I see people walking their kids to school, and I catch myself staring. The highlights of my week are the hugs I get from Emily (my little neighbor). Monday when I picked her up from school, she and her friend were bickering over something in the car and I just started laughing.
